Well, if you watched the #NASCAR Xfinity Series race last night, you got to watch some great racing. I would like to give a shout out to Jeremy Clements driving the #51 Chevy and his crew chief, Tony Clements for their first top 10 start in this series.
Elbows up, drivers, as they are racing hard for the win, which led to the first caution of the race at lap #2 as #4 Chevy Ross Chastain got loose and moved up the track, eventually taking out #8 Blake Koch as Koch couldn’t get slowed down in time and hit #16 Mustang of Ryan Reed directly in the driver’s door. Koch headed to the garage, his night over, and Reed headed to his crew on pit road with his wounded car for repairs. Note of interest for you, Ryan Reed won the ARCA race earlier in the day at Kentucky Speedway, as the race was called off last night due to rain. Also caught up in the wreck was #88 JR Motorsports Chevy of Ben Rhodes. The #42 of Brennan Poole had major damage as well.
#54 Toyota of Erik Jones, who had to head to the back of the pack before the race started, had a bet with his crew chief that he could get to the 15th position in the first 15 laps, but forgot to discuss if there were caution laps involved. Jones overtook 7 cars before the caution, as he was not afraid to go to the high side and swoop down low, and for the record, Jones won the bet.
#3 of Ty Dillon lead most of the middle of the race, with #22 Ryan Blaney going up to 3/10th faster during this time to challenge Dillon, running Dillon down at a pretty rapid pace.
And then the rain. But we had 3 and 4 and 5 WIDE restarts …. loving it!
Another shout out to JGR driver #20 Matt Tifft, 19-year-old driver for JGR and his first time in a #NASCR Xfinity race up to 2nd at lap 174, looking good there my friend.. He was solid all night.
So #22 Ryan Blaney, in the final stand-alone race of the year, is smooth thru the turns and in his 41st career start in the #NASCAR Xfinity Series makes his 4th career win at VsitMyrtleBech.com 300 at Kentucky Speedway.
