Dinner with a Legend

For those of you who don’t know I am a Crew Member and gas man in the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards.  I get to do and see things that the average race fan does not.  About 3 weeks ago the team I work for Hixson Motorsports  (normally runs car numbers 2 & 3) teamed with what is normally the 48 car of James Harvey Hylton at Talladega.  We used the #2 and our driver was Brad Smith.  I gassed the race car in Talladega and after the race James Hylton came up to me he said “Big man you did a great job today.  I owe you a steak dinner.”  I told him I planned on holding him to that at Toledo! This weekend we came to Toledo for the Menards 200 and James Hylton asked me if I wanted to go to dinner with his team and gladly I agreed James is a legend because he was the 1966 NASCAR Cup Rookie of the year.  There were no funny or embarrassing stories told it was just an honor to share a meal with james.
