It’s the day all race fans have been waiting for. The Daytona 500 !!!
The wait starts right after Homestead Miami. The moment the checkered flag waves, the smoke settles and the champion is hoist the Cup over his head, the fans all over are already counting the days to the Daytona 500.
This year is a little different. Monster Energy Cup Series takes over the title sponsorship and different rules package such as the five minute rule. This gives team five minutes to get on pit road and fix the car and off pit road to stay in the race.
Drivers like the Denny Hamlin (2016 Daytona champion) is looking to repeat while Jimmie Johnson ( 2016 Cup champion ) not only wants to win the 500, but also already very focused on winning his eithth championship. You also have Monster Energy Cup sophomore driver, and Chase Elliott starting on the pole in his 24 Napa Chevy.
Green flag is expected to drop at 2:30 pm (ET).
